We had a lovely father's day. drove up the coast and took bayley to the beach for her first splash in the water




adam's mom has been in town from michigan and we are so sad for her to go, we've had so much fun and she has helped so much.

I'm not the only busy girl in the house either. I can't document bayley's new tricks fast enough!!! She is talking so much I can't imagine what it will be like when she has a vocabulary larger than 7 words. Last night she said flower (her version) and pointed to the flowers. The girl is into pointing, it's so cute. And she does this huh? thing. It's more like a canadian eh? actually. Oh and adam will say "uh uh uh" when she's getting into mischief so now she started to imitate him and say it right back. We about died laughing it was so funny. She loves eating french toast in the morning and watching "sid the science kid". So many new things happening so fast, oh and now she wakes up at 7am instead of 10am, i am sad.

I am happy to say that we did not have to put my beloved dog Spike to sleep. We thought it was his time, so we said our goodbyes, shed many tears, and i took him into the vet. After 15 minutes of checking him out and questions the doctor simply said "I won't put this dog to sleep, he's too healthy" what did we know??? well spike 16 years and you're still a healthy pup, cheers to that!!!

June is a busy month, fun busy, but i'm glad things are slowing down and I can relax a bit. I want to read more and work on photo albums and organize things.

We're trying to put bayley in her crib so we can all sleep better, but this morning at 5am after an hour of trying and me actually climbing in again, we gave up. So I decided to get up and greet the day. Which reminds me, I need another cup of coffee.

Bayley and I went on a walk today to get the mail like usual. Today was a little different. Instead of talking on the phone with one hand and containing her sqirmy little body and the days mail with the other, I walked with her hand in hand and let her go wherever she wanted to go. And she taught me something (as she does almost hourly these days). As I tried to hurry her along, she spotted a splendid gold leaf, actually a big one and a little one. Even being so excited to walk, she was so intrigued by these two leaves. So she plopped her padded tushy down on the cold cement and began to examine them. I thought for sure she'd go for the big one, it was pretty. No, she liked the smaller one. She held them both and had such a fun time playing with these little gold leaves. It made me realize that I need to slow down, take the time and enjoy everything more. Because that's what this whole life is made up of-a bunch of small things that make up the big things. So often I find myself chasing big things, and i'd rather not. I'd much rather sit and enjoy the small gold leaves. So i think i will turn over a new leaf (no pun intended) and learn from my Bayley. As we walked back home she saw a man outside smoking who did not look very happy. She smiled so big at him and I've never seen someone's expression do a 180 like his did. He smiled back and said "wow, that's a smile!!" I swear that two toothed grin of hers could change the world (and it is). She stumbled home and even wanted to do the stairs. From now on we will both walk to get the mail, no phone, no rush and we will have little adventures along the way.

Happy Birthday to my sweet Bayley girl!!

Dear Bayley,
One year ago today at 11:27am was the most life changing event of my life. Despite all the meds I can recall it more clearly than I can recall what we ate for breakfast this morning. I remember the smell of my hospital room, the scalding hot water and huge alluminum basins i scrubbed my hands in before entering the NICU. The taste of vanilla pudding because that's all that really tasted good to me. The scary beeps, bells and cries of other preemies that I'm sure aged me 10 years because it's the scariest thing in the world to have a baby in the NICU for 8 days. And most important of all i remember your tiny 5 and a half pound being lying on my chest smelling like heaven and feeling softer and sweeter than anything i've ever felt, oh my eyes are blurred from the tears flowing. i just can't believe that one year ago today i sat beside your tiny bed and read her the book "On the day you were born", and as i did the same tonight, i felt even more blessed and more happy than ever. The past year has been the best year of my life and i have learned so much. You are so loved Bayley. Thank you for coming into this world and making so many hearts happy. Your smile could cure any ailment in the world. I love you heart and soul forever and ever. I hope all your wishes come true. You are MY wish come true.

12 Months.....where did the time go???

Bayley's party was a hit, I am exhausted so exhausted. She had a great time and it was great to celebrate with our loved ones. I will post more pics soon after I organize all her gifts and sleep for a few days. She's been teething like crazy and has a runny nose, but was still such a good sport on her birthday.

two steps and almost one

approximately 20 minutes ago, our girl took two steps BY HERSELF!!! she was watching elmo on sesame street holding onto a pink shoe. i don't even think she knew what she was doing all entranced by furry little monsters, then she saw what she was doing and boom she fell down.

Go Bayley Go....keep trying little munchkin we're so proud of you!!!!

so we just bought a soft padded safe for learning to walk babies ottoman. so after her amazing accomplishment, i thought we could try for a few more steps.....to the ottoman. bad idea, baby down, hit mouth on ottoman, it bled, she screamed. well on a positive note it would have probably needed stitches if she would have done the same move on our old coffee table. she is fine, elmo distracted her and then she went down for a nap.

did i mention when she says bye bye she has a southern drawl......TOO CUTE CAN'T STAND IT!!!! i feel like she will soon follow her bye bye with a "ya'll come back now ya here"
