Olive oil, fleas and a mad cat
Poor kitty. Yes this is Miss Kitty, the same cat in the other pictures. She got shaved the other day due to coughing up too many hairballs. Then I found some fleas...not a lot but enough to gross me out!!! I don't use insecticides which are pretty much all they have to kill fleas. They are bad for humans, animals and the environment and I don't want anything with the warning label HAZARDOUS TO HUMANS anywhere near our baby girl or us. So I sought out holistic treatments. My favorite one that seemed practical and cheap was an olive oil bath, so Chara and I got to work. I found some low quality olive oil and we put it all over Miss Kitty's entire body. What happens is since fleas have an ecsoskeleton, the oil breaks it down and they drown in it. It worked, the fleas just slid off into the bath water and were dead!! I know my house has some fleas still but I will tackle that with some borax and a vaccum tomorrow. Oh but the only bad part about the olive oil bath is that she is still kinda greasy(see pictures). We shampooed her several times but it hasn't all come out. I'm hoping it will act as a preventative and detour the fleas!!
Bring your purple hat!!!
So today I took Bayley to JC Penney's for her 4 month old pictures. I really don't care for them too much for pictures but I do it anyways because it is affordable and she looks cute no matter what. I took her fed, napped and happy!! Good job I think, she was even all smiley while we waited!! I take her in to the room, quiet, not too bright or cold or hot thinking we will get some cute shots. I set her down on the little pillow and the lady starts making noises "googoo gaga" "bubububaaaaaaa" I was thinking it sounded so very ridiculous and Bayley would probably laugh or at least smile.......no she did not. She stared at the woman for a long time with an extremely puzzled look on her face and with semi-disapproval. Then all of a sudden, my daughter turns beet red and is screaming at the top of her lungs worse than when she got her first vaccine. I picked her up and calmed her down. She was better almost instantly. So we tried again, same thing. She did not like this woman and kept giving her this glare that could have knocked you over. All the woman could say was "oh my". The funny thing was that everytime I picked her up Bayley would smile!! Needless to say we left the department store immediately. I always felt JC Penney's was a little bit evil because after you order your pictures and go pick them up they print extras and ask if you want to purchase them. Any parent is going to feel compelled to buy them so they don't get trashed (or maybe it's just me). The kicker is they are more expensive than the ones you already bought, and usually not your favorites!!! Maybe she sensed their trickery. Luckily Auntie Chara came over and took her 4 month old pictures!! I think they are way better anyways : ) No more department store photos for these girls.

He is the best dog in the whole world and will live forever (as long as my Grandma keeps giving him coral calcium) Adam and I got Miss Kitty about a month after we moved in together and she is the sweetest cat and seems more like a dog.

Fire season in Cali
Fire season is here again for So Cal. This is a picture I took last year during the fires, pretty eerie. Hopefully this year they won't be as bad, there have been a few so far but seem to be contained. In 2003 the whole city practically burned down, ash was so thick you couldn't walk outside without a mask. So far the worst part of the santa ana winds for me has been my allergies going nuts. I hope that continues to be my biggest upset.
Size 6 months!!!
Bayley is growing like a weed!!! I can't believe this 6 month jumper fits her, she will be 4 months old tomorrow but is so tall!! Who could tell she was a preemie??? Right now her favorite thing to do is to stand up, I hold her standing up and she dances on my tummy. She gets such a kick out of herself and smiles and laughs.

We got to see Daddy...
via teleconference video. It was so awesome to see Adam, I miss him more than words can express. This will be the longest 6 months of my life without a doubt!!! I can't wait til turkey day!!! It was really good to see him smiling and in one piece, but it made me miss him even more!!! Good thing in just a little over a month and he will be home with his girls. I will be ecstatic!!!! It's sad because I don't want to wish away these moments with Bayley but I just want him to be able to be here to share them with me. I am grateful though, I know there are people whose husbands are gone a lot longer or that aren't good Husbands/Dads. We have an amazing Husband/Daddy and are so very lucky!!!! We love you Adam : )
