A baby who loves her bath

she loves that little pink duck so much and smiles everytime I put it in the tub with her. she also just started discovering the bubbles her soap makes and tries ever so carefully to grab them with her chubby little pincher grasp. she loves when i wrap her up all cozy in her towel and then show her how cute she looks with her wild just washed hair and naked buddah belly in the mirror. and I love how yummy and clean she smells after.

Steppin

Our little girl isn't crawling yet, but today she was walking holding Grandma's hands. Grandma showed her how and she did it really well!! She may walk before she crawls!!

We've also been having a hard time getting her to sleep at night which is why I'm so behind on my blogging. The past couple nights she has put Adam and I to sleep before she fell asleep (not good). It was cute though the other night we were telling her this long story about how babies have to go to bed so then can recharge their batteries and feel good to play the next day. She was listening so intently but was still wide awake, so Adam and I just started kissing her both of her cheeks and she started cracking up so hard, it was the biggest belly laugh ever!!! It made us belly laugh too, she is too cute even though she is our little night owl.

So tonight I thought I tricked her : no late nap and asleep by 8:30pm woohoo off to watch Planet Earth with Adam, finish my uneaten dinner and have a cup of chamomile tea!!! Just kidding.......poor little thing woke up crying and so scared at 9pm. I tried patting her and rocking her, but after 45 minutes she was wide awake and my back was broken. I put her in her swing where she sat content but wide awake. At 11:30 I laid on the couch with her and told her a story, she was asleep by midnight. I put her in her crib and she's still sleeping as of now. Sleep til 8am Bayley!!! Please?

She's been eating more solids lately too. Her favorite is haagen-daaz raspberry sorbet. Grandma bought her some the other day and she devoured it like she'd been starving for days. She loves carrots, sweet potatos, small bites of noodles, waffles, muffins, kiwis, blueberries, mashed potatos and now hates her rice cereal (must be too bland for this girl).

I can't believe she is almost 9 months!!! That's almost a year!! She's almost in college!!!

he beat me to it.....a day at the park

Oh I love your post sweetheart, those are some of my favorite pictures too without a doubt.
Actually, they melt my heart. I'm pretty sure I used to sit and daydream about a day I would get to go to the park with my prince charming husband and watch as he gave our precious little girl shoulder rides while I took pictures and smiled so much my cheeks hurt.
*sigh*
okay so here are some more park pictures. we went on saturday 03/01/09 and Bayley swung(that word looks strange, maybe it's swang) for the first time, and she loved it!!!

This is the pioneer park in mission hills and it is the park my mom used to take me to, it's right next door to the elementary school i went to. I was kind of sad they re did it though, i used to love to climb the big caterpillar.

Dads First Post

So I'm learning this blog thing as I go... I just wanted to put up a few of my favorite pictures over the past month or so because Abbey always seems to put up the bad pictures of me. These are a few of my favorites. Miss you all! Sorry if I seem so distant, work has been crazy and I've been working 12 hour days for the past two months or so.

The sweetest sound I ever heard

I heard today.

As if it isn't amazing enough that I get to be rewarded every morning waking up to this precious little face.....

today she spoke....to me!

We were standing in line at Trader Joe's and I knew she was ready to go because we had been in there about 30 minutes (Mommy has to read all the labels) and she had just woken up from a nap and was being so good. When all of a sudden, she looked up at me with those huge baby blues and said so articulately....
"mama"
like she had been practicing it for years!
Tears welled up and I wanted to go tell one of the many random strangers standing around us that she just spoke her first word and it was "mama", but I knew no one would ever be as impressed as I was at that very moment. So I picked her up, squealed with delight, congratulated her and told her how proud of her I was. Then I went over to the posh baby boutique next door and bought her this "oh so stylish big girl's talkin now" hat.

Photobucket

Her first word, mama. Yay Bayley, we're so proud!!!! Tonight at dinner she said ma a few times, next word is dada I just know it!!

Photobucket

just that split second and small word made my day like no other, but how could she not make your day with a face like this. We love you little monkey.

spongy

A friend of mine once said he felt spongy after I gave him a vitamin pill (long funny story) and for some reason I was thinking about that the other day and wondered what feeling spongy felt like. Well now I think I know. It must be how Bayley feels all of the time.
Lately I've been playing over in my head that commercial that says "90% of a childs brain develops by the age of 5" and keep reciting in my head the books that tell me how they are just little sponges taking everything in and learning things at warp speed. I know this is all so true and Bayley is my proof. Bayley has been like a little sponge lately, just taking everything in and showing us how brilliant she is. You can just see her little brain working as she discovers new things and then all the smiles and belly laughs from the simplest things, like peek-a-boo. It just really makes you realize that life doesn't need to be that complicated, it's the little things that make a difference.

Yesterday she waved bye bye to Grandma

She got so angry watching Adam and I eat some macaroni and cheese and not offering her any. I caved and gave her some very small bites of noodles. I stopped and continued eating and she made the funniest face and opened her mouth and made an overexagerated eating gesture that made my Mom and I laugh til we cried.

She is rolling all over the place and trying so hard to crawl, but just does not like to be on her stomach. She can hold on and stand up on her own for a short time.

She is starting to try more solids but mainly just likes bananas.....she is also obsessed with monkeys...hmmmmmm this explains a lot hehe

She knows how to type on the keyboard. She starts with just moving her tiny fingers all over the keys and then gets really excited and starts pounding her hands on it. Last night she changed our screensaver, found a games page and saved it to our favorites. Coincidence??? No, she really is brilliant. And now she has her own keyboard, and she uses it everyday. I think she has the home row mastered.

She loves doing new things and luckily I do too!! I can't wait to go to build a bear and have tea parties and play dress up.....hmmm who's going to have more fun???

She also likes to rock back and forth and bang her head back on things. Daddy calls her his little rainman when she does this haha. We don't want her to be that kind of brilliant!!

She's also been imitating her elmo doll who dances and waves his arms, it's so cute.

She sits and plays for a good 30 minutes with her toys, moving and stacking. It's always so fascinating how children have the most amazing imaginations. I hope you always keep it with you Bayley.

We love you Bayley, keep growing and learning and using that big imagination of yours! Here are some of my favorite quotes that inspire me.

Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try! ~Dr. Seuss, Oh, the Thinks You Can Think!

I paint objects as I think them, not as I see them. ~Pablo Picasso
Imagination and fiction make up more than three-quarters of our real life. ~Simone Weil

It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see. ~Henry David Thoreau

Anyone who can be replaced by a machine deserves to be. ~Dennis Gunton

Really we create nothing. We merely plagiarize nature. ~Jean Baitaillon

I doubt that the imagination can be suppressed. If you truly eradicated it in a child, he would grow up to be an eggplant. ~Ursula K. Le Guin

This past week....

We went to the lovely farmers market and Bayley and I got beautiful flowers from Daddy.
Bayley tried her first organic teething biscuit, very very messy!!
Bayley found a cookbook she liked and will hopefully be cooking us dinner sometime soon. Mommy's little clone!!!
She tried on Daddy's glasses....Daddy's little clone!!
She ate some green beans for Grandma but put most of them on her face!!
She hung out with Auntie Sarah and made lots of funny faces.
She smiles EVERY single time Daddy whistles the Top Gun theme song to her (let's just say I'm hearing it in my sleep!!)
She jumped in her jumperoo like a mad woman, got tons of hugs and kisses from Mommy, Daddy and Grandma.
She was told by two different people in Whole Foods that she was the prettiest baby they had ever seen (one guy was in his 70's!!).
Oh and she tried to leap off the couch......Mom intercepted : )
We are having so much fun watching her grow and learn so much everyday, it's never a boring day with Bayley and she can make ANYONE'S day by flashing her toothless grin at them. Lot's of pics.....they're all so cute.
